Congratulations to the Richford Simply Health Class!

RHNSCNY offers the Simply Health Wellness program periodically throughout Broome, Tioga, and Delaware Counties. Simply Health is designed to help participants live healthier lives through better eating habits, increased physical activity, and stress reduction. Classes are typically held once a week for nine weeks. The Simply Health program draws from the expertise of area health, nutrition, and fitness professionals. Participants receive incentives, including pedometers and stretch bands, to encourage continued activity outside of the classroom.
 
As of January 2013, RHNSCNY has held 32 Simply Health programs throughout Broome, Tioga, and Delaware Counties. Of the over 500 participants in the program, 71% have graduated. Of graduates, 83% showed improved health indicators, including weight loss, lower blood pressure, or smaller waist measurement. 75% of graduates self-reported improved behavioral chances, including an increase in exercise or improved eating habits.

Resistance Band Instruction Manual

Jessica Surdey is a personal trainer, group exercise leader, adjunct lecturer, and wellness coach. Jessica presents on the importance of strength training at many of our Simply Health programs. Simply Health participants receive an overview of how to use resistance bands in their workouts as well as resistance bands to keep. The following instruction manual is intended for class participants and those who have had an introduction to resistance training using resistance bands.
