WHITNEY POINT - Outreach to Caregivers of Persons with Alzheimer's or Dementia (OCPAD) is a pilot project of Faith in Action Volunteers in partnership with the Alzheimer's Association, Central New York Chapter. Free training will be provided by an associate program director.

The two four-hour training sessions will include explanations of dementia basics, communication strategies, specific activities and role play. The need is great in all areas of Broome County.

Training is Saturday, Nov. 2 and 9, from 8:30 to 12:30, at the Northern Broome Senior Center in Whitney Point.

Family caregivers may refer a loved one to the OCPAD project as well. Contact Joanne Kays, program director, Broome County Council of Churches, at 724-9130 or jkays@broomecouncil.net.
